P-Bruins Pull Ahead Pirates in Shootout Win
November 21st, 2008 @ 10:44 pm :: Filed Under: P-Bruins, Sports ::P-Bruins, currently second in their division, went head to head with Portland Pirates, ranked first, tonight in a forced 3-2 shootout win. The first two periods were relatively quiet and tame as the teams struggled to build momentum both on the ice and in the crowd. Few attempts were made, like Adam McQuaid dropping gloves to take on Portland’s Bouck. Not until late in the third period did both teams get on the scoreboard. Vladimir Sobotka and Byron Bitz netted goals for the Bruins to tie the game and bring it to a shootout overtime. Goalie Kevin Reagan was perfect on the shootout and the lone Providence goal came from Peter Schaeffer. Bruins continue their three games in three days by traveling to Springfield tomorrow and returning on Sunday to host the Hartford Wolfpack.
