Keno Picks Up First PC Win, 100-82
November 18th, 2008 @ 10:41 pm :: Filed Under: PC, Sports ::PC picked up their first win tonight, as they beat Dartmouth at the Dunk, 100-82. Overall, a relatively boring game because there were so many stoppages for free throws. However, some important items to note in my Five Providence Friars Points:
[To Redshirt or Not to Redshirt] Coach Davis has talked previously about potentially redshirting athletic sophomore forward Jamine “Greedy” Peterson (agree not to play him all season in exchange for an extra year of eligibility). Tonight, he said he might redshirt freshman Bilal Dixon as well. No decisions have been made yet, but if neither can crack the rotation, it might make sense.
[The Rot8tion] For the second straight game, Davis used an 8-man rotation, with sophomore guard/forward Marshon Brooks as that eighth guy. Davis admitted after the game that he’ll ideally use a 9-man rotation, but that he has been limited with the injury to sophomore forward Alex Kellogg (expected back Saturday the earliest). Peterson or Dixon could be that ninth guy, but right now, the likelihood is Kellogg will grab that final PT (playing time) spot.
[Milestones] Senior guard Weyinmi Efejuku tallied his 1000th and 1001st career points on a fastbreak dunk in the first half. Junior point guard Sharaud Curry fed him for the assist. Also, Marshon Brooks had a career night, posting career bests of 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
[Charity Work] Dartmouth committed 32 fouls, put PC in the bonus early both halves, and PC shot a total of 46 free throws! Once again, the Friars were unimpressive from the stripe, missing 15 of 46.
[The 3 Ball] Once again, an opponent shot well from long range. Northeastern made 9/15 on Saturday, and tonight the Big Green connected on 12/26 three-pointers.
