Fall Out Boy Interview/World Record Attempt

youre just jealous because they are young and in love

Several weeks ago I saw this insane news story about how Fall Out Boy, in wake of their failed attempt to break a world record by playing concerts on all seven continents, were going to attempt a different record, do the largest number of radio interviews in a single 24 hour period. Being the 15 year old girl that I am I immediately thought one thing: WBRU needs to get one of these interviews.* So last week when my good friend DJ GQ informed me she had secured one and was giving it to me, so began a week filled with frantic question writing and dry heaving. Interview and more after the jump. That Friday came and I sauntered out of bed at like 8 am (which is early for us radio personalities). I pretty much knew going into it that a deciding moment of the interview would be when I suggested that in order to keep the interviews fresh that they start thinking of games to mess with their interviewers. Pretty much the dudes were either going to get my humor and we’d have a good time or things were going to get awkward. After I made my suggestion, there was an awkward pause. Dammit. Then without missing a beat Pete Wentz jumps in with, “I have a game”, and I proceeded to spend the next minute and a half playing the name game with Pat Stump and Pete Wentz (which ended when I suggested we get to some music questions and Pete lamenting he didn’t get to drop Willy Wonka on me, classic). I was a little shocked they were as hyperly into the game as they were until I caught this little series of events on their twitter:

Coincidence?

Anywho, the next 5-6 minutes went off without a hitch as I chit-chatted about music with FUCKING FALL OUT BOY. When the boys got the wrap it up signal, from their management I got one of the best compliments ever as Pat said he didn’t want to have to go cuz it had been one of the best interviews of the day (but I bet he says that to all the girls). Congrats to Pat and Pete for absolutely shattering the record by doing 72 interviews (old record was 57), and don’t forget you promised to try and get me in the Guinness book. That’s Emmett with two Ts.

**UPDATE**: So I met the guys before their show at Harper’s Ferry. When I mentioned who I was Pat Stump made a point of flagging me down and saying that it was the best interview of the day. Suck it Ryan Seacrest! Oh and Pete spent several minutes explaining to me his secret plan to definitively win the name game. It involved Xenia Warrior Princess. I’ve already said too much.

*Don’t worry ladies I’m not actually a 15 year old girl, I just play one on TV.
