BRU Brief 11/17/08: RI Veterans and Sex Toys Edition

Last night on the BRU Brief, the News team delivered on their promise to avoid words like “Palin” or “Joe the Plumber” as much as possible as we try to move on from the 2008 campaign. You can check out podcasts of the Brief pieces below–and in case you’re wondering, we’re aware that the Community News and Spotlight pieces’ subjects are separate entities. Very separate. But the title got your attention, didn’t it?

In this week’s Community News, Liling Soh decided to take a unique look at Veterans Day. Normally the holiday is commemorated by remembering in silence the men and women who sacrificed for this country. We think about what they did in countries like Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, but does anyone stop to consider how veterans are being treated here in Rhode Island? Liling did, here’s her piece:

Then, in our Entertainment News Spotlight, LJ and Mirage paid a visit to Providence’s new, er, sex shop, Mister Sister. It’s look to fill a hole (oh, get your mind out of the gutter) in the city’s offerings left by Miko over the summer. Ever the intrepid reporters looking to serve the community, Mirage and LJ talked to Mister Sister’s employees and then uncover some of Providence’s sexiest locales.
