The falling of the Twin Towers, the burning Pentagon and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania are burned into are national mindset as examples of tragedy and courage.
It was no different for famous people.
On 9-11 all major professional American sports were suspended and ESPN’s sports reporters spent most of their time reporting what seemed more like “news.”
Legendary ESPN Broadcaster Chris Berman, who worked for WBRU in the late 70s shortly before he went to ESPN, was about to board a flight to call a baseball game. He shared his memory of that day and what it means to him now with BRU News’ George Mesthos.
